Torres strait fin fish research priorities (T1.14)

Task leader: Dr Gavin Begg, CRC Reef and James Cook University

This task arose to address three key research priorities identified at the Torres Strait Finfish Working Group in April 2005. The research and monitoring activities will provide data to feed into ongoing CRC Torres Strait research projects. This task will address the following priorities:

1. Collation of remaining Islander Council freezer catch records.

2. Feasibility study into the cost effectiveness of a fisheries-dependant monitoring program of the Spanish Mackerel fishery

3. Collection and analysis of barramundi cod biological data from the eastern Torres Strait reef line fishery.
